Music

I have been composing music since I was a child. Has it all been good? No. Has any of it been good? That’s subjective. But in an effort to catalog and categorize a small subset of it, I have broken my compositions/recordings into three eras — described briefly below and linked fully in the sidebar.

CENOZOIC music

The Cenozoic era begins in 2026 to mark the second quarter of the 21st century, and to commemorate ULTRAsomething’s version 2 rebirth.

MESOZOIC music

The Mesozoic era contains music created in the first quarter of the 21st century, beginning with the site’s birth in 2000, and continuing through its various incarnations up until the end of 2025. This was a time when designing synthesizers took precedence over using them, and when photography took up whatever remaining hours were left. Still, a few compositions slipped out — either as stand-alone songs, as soundtracks to the numerous vBooks I created, or as commissioned compositions from the site’s early pre-blog days.

PALEOZOIC music

The Paleozoic era is the oldest. The songs contained on these pages are from my youth — a nebulous term, which for the sake of this site I’ll define as “the 20th century”. In this era, I composed for various groups (including my bands “Grace Darling” and “Bartholomew Fair“), for corporations, for dance choreographers, and for myself. The unifying sonic factor is the palpable naivety.
